Mixin’ It Up!

Welcome to the Mixin’ It Up Blog Hop!

Since the theme of the hop is cooking/baking/mixing, I thought I’d share a recipe with you. The heroine of my first Fawn Lake book – Delilah Steele – loves to bake away the stress. I know she would love to win the KitchenAid mixer we’re giving away with this hop!

So, from Delilah’s own kitchen:

Ethel’s Sugar Cookies

¾ C shortening – can be part butter

1 C sugar

2 eggs

½ t vanilla extract

2 ½ C flour

1 t baking powder

1 t salt

Preheat oven to 400. Mix ingredients together and chill 1 hour. Roll to 1/8 inch, cut out with whatever cookie cutters you have handy. If you don’t have cookie cutters, get creative, jars, tupperware, cups and so much more will work in a pinch. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet 6-8 minutes.

fridge and rolled it out on the table. She pulled her cookie cutters

from the bin on top of the fridge and set to work, cutting out

pumpkins, cats, bats and leaves. She even cut out a few ghosts by

hand.”
