Since the theme of the hop is cooking/baking/mixing, I thought I’d share a recipe with you. The heroine of my first Fawn Lake book – Delilah Steele – loves to bake away the stress. I know she would love to win the KitchenAid mixer we’re giving away with this hop!
So, from Delilah’s own kitchen:
Ethel’s Sugar Cookies
¾ C shortening – can be part butter
1 C sugar
½ t vanilla extract
2 ½ C flour
1 t baking powder
1 t salt
Preheat oven to 400. Mix ingredients together and chill 1 hour. Roll to 1/8 inch, cut out with whatever cookie cutters you have handy. If you don’t have cookie cutters, get creative, jars, tupperware, cups and so much more will work in a pinch. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet 6-8 minutes.
